Love At First Listen- Blame Brett, Blame My Ex

Funny story a few months ago before Blame Brett came out, I had seen the 30 second clip of it on Tik Tok when there was only maybe 2,000 views told The Beaches this was a hit and I listened to just the clip of it 20x a day. And they responded and we had a cute girl moment. And then their album 'Blame My Ex' and now they have 6 million listeners.

I am beyond excited to be screaming this song in a few months when they come to New York. I also cackle thinking about how this song as well as Taylor Swift's 'Would've Could've Should've ' and 'Karma' are all in my top 5 most played songs this year. Yikes. But this album is full of amazing wonderful kickass songs that I love and also relate to heavily. It's been awesome year relistening to women's music not just for entertainment, but to see how common female experiences are. Taylor Swift's 'Would've Could've Should've', Indigo De Souza's ' You Can Be Mean'/ Younger and Dumber, Boygenius' 'Letter to a Dead Poet', Leith Ross's 'Guts, 'Vampire' by Olivia Rodrigo. It's like all the girls are singing the same song in different styles, or perhaps more accurately have all encountered the same kind of monster. Either way, it's been a great year for hearing women turn bad experiences into beautiful art that can speak to us all.
